They stopped the transfer of protesters detained in Yare III

The Venezuelan Prisons Observatory (OVP) reported that the protesters arrested in the post-election contextheld in the Yare III prison in the state of Miranda, were not transferred to other prisons in the country this Sunday, November 24.

The relatives of the political prisoners told the OVP that the 11 buses, which had been in the vicinity of the prison since Sunday morning and in which the prisoners were supposedly transported, They came out empty.

In videos shared by the NGO on social networks, you can see a group of women shouting and applauding as the buses left the place to celebrate that their loved ones were not inside the transport units.

Earlier, relatives alerted the OVP about the fear of new transfers to the Yare III prison. «Given the misinformation, the relatives presumed that again they would remove detainees and take them to the Tocuyito or Tocorón prisons«added OVP.

Christmas without political prisoners

The Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) demanded on Friday that at Christmas there be no political prisoners in the country, where there are 1,963 citizens under this condition, according to the NGO Foro Penal, which assures that the majority were detained after the presidential elections on July 28, when protests broke out against the official result that gave Nicolás Maduro’s re-election.

«“All united we demand Christmas without political prisoners.”stated the PUD, while reiterating that “doing politics is not a crime.”

Likewise, he expressed his support for the families of the detainees and expressed that the freedom of “each of the people” who remain behind bars for “wanting a country with a future” is a “priority.”

Last Thursday, dozens of people protested in front of the Attorney General’s Office to demand new releases of detainees after the presidential elections, after in recent days Justice granted 225 “liberty measures,” although with restrictions and continuity of judicial processes.

The relatives of the prisoners asked the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, to publish the list of people who benefited from the measures granted, since Foro Penal assures that only 143 releases were carried out.
