«For years they promised the construction of plants and wind farms that came to nothing due to corruption and waste. Today, as always, those who suffer the consequences are the Venezuelans,” said the anti-Chavista organization, which accused the authorities of doing “nothing to help” the people of Margarita.

The party demanded from the government immediate solutions to the electricity crisis in the island region, one of the country’s main tourist destinations, which has received thousands of tourists from Cuba and Russia in recent years.

On Saturday, the Minister of Electric Energy, Jorge Márquez, announced that the gas supply would be restored to the Nueva Esparta thermoelectric plants, after being affected by a “terrorist attack” of which the official accused the opposition leader María Corina Machado. , according to the official press release.

However, residents of Margarita reported on social media that service interruptions continue this Monday, lasting an average of 12 hours.

For years, the oil-producing country has suffered daily failures in the supply of electrical energy, especially in regions far from Caracas, for which the government blames the majority opposition, even when the military monitors the industry facilities, while the anti-Chavismo and experts denounce poor management, lack of maintenance and corruption.

In August, Venezuela experienced the longest blackout since March 2019 – when it spent days in the dark – due to an electrical failure that cut off power in Caracas and the 23 states.
