Three injured in shootings in Maloney, Sea Lots

Three people have been hospitalised after being shot in Sea Lots and Maloney between Friday and Saturday.

In the first incident, around 6:30 pm on Friday, a 34-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man from Production Drive, Sea Lots were close to their home when they heard several explosions.

They both realised they had been shot when they felt burning sensations.

They raised an alarm and the police and emergency health services were notified.

The injured parties were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they treated for their injuries.

The woman was shot in her right thigh, right arm, and right upper back, while the 32-year-old was treated for an injury to his left leg.

PC Phillip is continuing enquiries.

Meanwhile, around 12:05am Saturday, a 31-year-old man was with two others standing on the roadway at Gull Terrace, Maloney Gardens, when a silver Nissan AD wagon stopped at the side of the roadway.

Several explosions were heard and the 31-year-old felt burning sensations to his left arm and right hand.

The suspects in the vehicle then drove off.

The victim ran east where he sought assistance from nearby neighbours. He was taken to the Arima Health Facility for treatment.

The police were notified and a team of officers from the Northern division responded, led by Insp Mascall.

Seven spent 5.56mm shells were recovered on the scene.
