Trinidad and Tobago Government announces $1 million boost for athletes and community groups
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has unveiled plans to provide over $1 million in grants aimed at enhancing the development of athletes, national sporting organizations, and community groups.
At a recent ceremony held at the Ministry of Sport and Community Development’s head office, it was announced that $1,179,930 would be distributed to 25 recipients through the Ministry’s Sport Grant for Organizations and Individuals, as well as the Community Action for Revival and Empowerment (C.A.R.E) grant.
This financial assistance includes support for 10 national sporting organizations, one individual athlete, and 14 community groups. The disbursement of these grants highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering excellence in sports at all levels and ensuring the sustainable development of communities.
Over $19 million
This latest round of funding brings the total amount distributed by the government this fiscal year to over $19 million. These funds have been allocated to 238 grants across several categories, including Elite Athletes, Individuals in Sport, National Governing Bodies, National Sporting Organizations, Community Action for Revival and Empowerment, and the National Incentives and Rewards Framework.

The Ministry of Sport and Community Development is actively involved in initiatives that promote sports and community engagement at both the national and grassroots levels. Programs such as the ‘I Choose Sport’ campaign, which reaches schools and communities across the nation, the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition, and Community Education Programs are all part of the government’s broader strategy to encourage participation in sports and strengthen communities.
