Trinidad Police held 7 suspects with illegal possessions after shootout in Manzanilla

Trinidad and Tobago: The law protection department of Trinidad and Tobago booked seven men after a shootout along Calypso Road, Manzanilla.

The officials also seized one illegal grenade and a firearm during a routine house search exercise on Saturday, 31 August. The seven apprehended individuals also included two Spanish men. The illegal grenade and a firearm were also seized

The crime eradication exercise was conducted by the police team of the Northern Division Task Force under a search warrant. It is reported that the warrant was executed to find an illegal firearm and ammunition.

The information based operation was targeted at a house located along Calypso Road in Manzanilla, Trinidad. The exercise quickly turned into a shootout. The details of the case were disclosed officially by the police authority.

According to the provided details about the shootout in Manzanilla, Trinidad, the police team found a group of individuals at the place on their arrival. The group had no clue about the raid of the police department.

As the group of people in front of the house spotted the police vehicles approaching them, they started running on the opposite side. The people were finding a way out through the back of the house in the south direction.

The responding officers observed the individuals running to escape them, after which a chase took place. It is alleged that one of the male suspects pulled out a gun against the police officers. The threatening act by the suspect made the officers worried for their safety.

Under the use of force policy, the officers at gunpoint discharged their service guns and pointed in the direction of the suspects. The situation led to a minor shootout of Manzanilla, Trinidad, which helped the police officers to take control of the suspects.

The lawmen held the two suspects, and the search was conducted. One of the suspects was a 27-year-old man, who was allegedly found with a magazine in his pants pocket containing seven ammunition of 9 mm.

The other suspect was a 36-year-old man, who was found with a hand grenade hidden in a bandana. The illegal possessions were seized, and the offenders were taken into custody. It is said that both men were of Spanish origin.

Reportedly, the Manzanilla shootout involving Trinidad police left the two suspects with wounds to their legs. Both men were taken under medical observation for treatment and are now reported to be in stable health condition.

After dealing with the shootout, the police department completed the dedicated operation and searched the house of Manzanilla, Trinidad. In the search, allegedly, lawmen seized one 9 mm Taurus pistol, two magazines, and six counts of ammunition.

Five more male suspects were arrested during the search. All five men were reported to be in their thirties. The police mentioned that a grenade was recovered by officers, which was made safe and removed by the experts of the Special Branch.
