The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) rejected on Saturday a recusal filed by former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez against the president of the Electoral Chamber of that instance, Caryslia Rodríguez, considering that it is «untimely».

Márquez’s recusal occurred in the context of Nicolás Maduro’s request for “certify” the results of the July 28 elections, in which the Electoral Authority declared him the winner without showing the minutes and results broken down; and skipping audits required by law.

Marquez argued that Judge Rodriguez has “link to a political biaslack of impartiality and lack of suitability to act as a judge in the case of July 28.”

On August 22, the TSJ confirmed Maduro’s “victory” without first resolving Márquez’s recusal, as it should have done. Now it argues that the former candidate was out of time.

Opposition leader María Corina Machado warned that the TSJ ruling that validates the alleged victory of Nicolás Maduro in the presidential elections It only further sinks and isolates the Chavista regime..

On his social network account XMachado said the government was wrong to use the highest court, which it controls, to legitimize results that the opposition and much of the international community consider fraudulent.

«It was clear that they did not dare to take the risk and publish the minutes.. We: focus on the goal, discipline and confidence. Every day we achieve another objective,” said the national coordinator of the Vente Venezuela party.
