TTPS CRIME STRATEGIES

The Minister of National Security hosted a press conference today about the nation’s rising crime rate. Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher spoke about the TTPS’s strategies for dealing with the upsurge in crime. The commissioner said that Trinidad and, unfortunately, Tobago have experienced an escalation in homicides and home invasions. She noted that before this escalation, the TTPS had intensified their initiatives to reduce violent crime across all police divisions. Commissioner Harewood-Christopher noted that the criminals recognised the TTPS’s encroachment and quickly adjusted their modus operandi. The top cop explained that they will continue to focus on reviewing and updating their strategies and conducting effective operations to push back against criminals. She assured that the TTPS maintains a high level of confidence in its operations, maintains proactive strategies, and focuses on ensuring that effective implementation is continued on a widespread and sustained basis.
