TTPS reports successful Tobago Carnival weekend
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said a successful Tobago Carnival was held over the weekend, with no serious crimes reported.
In an update, the TTPS said the goal to have the safest Tobago Carnival ever was achieved.
“Thank you to the Police Officers who would have made their journey to Tobago from Trinidad, through their respective Divisions/Branches/Sections, and collaborated with our Police Officers in Tobago to achieve our objective; ‘to achieve the safest Carnival experience ever, for all our residents, visitors and revellers.”
The TTPS said the Tobago Carnival Parade of the Bands began around 11:30 am on Sunday and was supervised by D.C.P. Suzette Martin, ACP Collis Hazel, ACP Oswain Subero, Snr Supt Elie, Supt Joseph and other police officers.
As the 25 bands revelled throughout the streets, the TTPS said there were approximately 8,000 people taking part in the island’s Carnival activities.
“During the 2024 Carnival period in Tobago, no Serious Crimes were reported and this could have only been achieved through your dedication, in accordance with the vision of our Incident Command Team; ACP Hazel, ACP Subero and S/Supt. Elie.
“The TTPS provided a solid blanket of security, allowing revellers to celebrate with peace of mind. Thank you to all who helped keep the festivities safe and enjoyable.”
