Tunapuna man arrested, firearm and ammunition seized

One man was arrested, a firearm and a quantity of ammunition were seized in Cunupia by officers of the Northern Division on Thursday.
Between the hours of 3:15 pm and 8:30 pm, last evening officers of the Northern Division Task Force executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition.
Based on intelligence information, the party of officers proceeded to Madras Road, Chin Chin, Cunupia where they observed the suspect running to the western side of the premises with a Blue Nike side bag around his neck and chest.
The officers gave chase and accosted the accused, upon searching the bag the officers found a firearm with one magazine and fifteen rounds of 9 mm ammunition. The suspect was arrested and the items were seized and conveyed along with the suspect to the Arima Police Station.
Officers also arrested eight suspects for various warrants in the Northern Division.
