Two Colombians arrested with 970 kilos of drugs

Two men of Colombian nationality were detained in Cumaná, Sucre state, with 970 kilograms of drugs.

The director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminalistic Investigation Corps (Cicpc), Douglas Ricoreported through its account on the social network Instagram that in the procedure they seized 990 panels of illicit substances.

“Commissions of the Anti-Drug Coordination and the Cumaná Municipal Delegation carried out intelligence investigations, which allowed the location of two men of Colombian nationality and the seizure of 990 panels of narcotic substances,” Rico said on the social network.

The commissioner said that the detainees were identified as Yeison Rodríguez, 43, and Jesús Ibáñez, 24, both of Colombian nationality.

He stated that those involved belonged to a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking.

Likewise, the procedure was carried out in a home under construction. The property is located on the Cumaná-Carúpano national highway, El Peñón sector, in the Valentín Valiente parish, in the Sucre municipality, Sucre state.

At the scene, the uniformed officers found 32 packages containing drug panels weighing 970 kilograms, as well as eight fuel drums.

Presumably, the substances They would be transferred, by sea, to the state of Nueva Esparta.

According to Rico, investigations by the Cicpc will continue with the objective of capturing the other members of the criminal organization.

Apparently, the gang used the Venezuelan crossing to transport psychotropic substances to other countries.

In this sense, he mentioned that they are carrying out the pertinent procedures through Interpol to determine if the detainees are wanted by the justice system of another country.

Rodríguez and Ibáñez were placed under the orders of the 11th Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry in drug matters, said Douglas Rico.
