Venezuelans will not be able to enter national territory by air with the expired passportaccording to information released by the airline Latam Colombia.

«In case you do not have your valid Venezuelan passport, Venezuelan nationals must request a ‘Travel Document’ before the Consulate or the Venezuelan Embassy accredited abroad and register it with the airline at least 72 hours before boarding,” the airline said in a statement published on its website on September 27.

The Venezuelan authorities established that boarding will not be allowed for Venezuelans with a Venezuelan identity card, even if it is valid, if the passport has expired.

Venezuelans with dual nationality will not be able to enter the country with an expired passport either.

«Those Venezuelan passengers who have dual nationality must present a valid Venezuelan passport. In the event that the Venezuelan passport is expired, you will not be able to be boarded even if you have your passport of your other nationality in force,” the airline indicated.

Given the new measures, Latam informed its Venezuelan passengers with tickets purchased to fly between September 27 and October 1 that they can review free change or refund options in the My Trips section of Latam.com.

Elmedio Blu Radio learned the testimony of a group of about 40 Venezuelan citizens who could not board the Latam flight between Bogotá and Caracas that they had scheduled for last Friday because they did not have a valid passport and were not aware of this requirement at the time of purchasing the ticket. .

The citizens were relocated to a flight bound for Cúcuta and must enter Venezuela through the border.

Passports requested at consulates must be picked up in Caracas

Venezuelan migrants who have processed their passport through the consulates that are currently closed must Go to the main headquarters of the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Immigration, in Caracasto collect your travel document.
