Vente Venezuela denounces the arrest of the coordinator in Anaco

He opposition party Vente Venezuela, led by María Corina Machado, denounced this Tuesday the arrest of a local leader from the state of Anzoátegui and demanded his “immediate freedom.”

Julio Itriago, VV coordinator in the Anaco municipality of Anzoátegui, was detained by “repressive bodies of the regime,” said the formation’s Human Rights Committee in X, which described the event as a “kidnapping.”

«We demand an end to the persecution and his immediate release. Doing politics is not a crime. Freedom for all political prisoners,” he expressed through that social network, where he shared a photograph of Itriago.

151 opposition politicians and activists are detained

According to the VV Human Rights Committee, at least 151 opposition politicians and activists are detained, many of them collaborators of Machado and the standard-bearer of the largest anti-Chavista bloc – the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) -, Edmundo González Urrutia, exiled in Spain. since September 8.

Last Sunday, the majority opposition denounced the arrest of two members of Machado’s security team, among them, his “chief of protection”, Milciades Ávila, who had already been imprisoned on July 17 and released 36 hours later, with precautionary measures.

For his part, Machado said, also in X, that he will not rest until he achieves the release of Ávila and Edwin Moya.

“I reiterate to your children and partners that you should feel very proud of them and I assure you that we will not rest until we bring them back free,” the former deputy said then.

Venezuela is experiencing a political crisis after the elections of July 28, in which Nicolás Maduro was proclaimed the winner by the National Electoral Council (CNE), while the PUD insists on the “victory” of its standard bearer.

The UN Fact-Finding Mission for Venezuela recently denounced that, in this context, the State “intensified the harshest and most violent modality of its repression machinery” to “dismantle and demobilize the opposition”, while the “main public powers abandoned all appearance of independence and submitted to the Executive.
