WASA says water safe after gruesome discovery in Parlatuvier
Elizabeth Gonzales
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) confirms that the water supply to Parlatuvier and surrounding areas remains uncontaminated following the discovery of three bodies in a decommissioned storage tank yesterday.
The bodies of 33-year-old Sarah Smith and her children, three-year-old Genuine Smith and one-year-old Phoenix Smith, were found inside the tank, which has been out of use for over three years. WASA clarified that the tank’s decommissioned status means it has not affected the current water supply.
Although maintenance of the grounds around the tank occurred as recently as August 21, 2024, routine inspections of the tank itself had ceased due to its decommissioned state.
The grim discovery was made during a search for Smith and her children, who had been reported missing after she was last seen on September 2.
WASA said it is cooperating with the police as investigations continue.
