Well wishes for Trinidad and Tobago

ON TT’s 62nd anniversary of independence, some politicians have reached out to the country on social media to express their good wishes.

Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley wished Trinidad and Tobago a Happy Independence Day on X, formerly Twitter.

She said, “As you celebrate this special day, I pray that the spirit of your motto – Together We Aspire, Together We Achieve – will continue to guide you toward unity, progress and further success.”

The US Embassy to Trinidad and Tobago posted a video message from US Ambassador Candace Bond on its various social media platforms.

She extended her congratulations to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, saying Trinidad and Tobago and the US had a deep friendship based on mutual respect, shared values and a common vision for the future

“Today marks a significant milestone in your history. A day to reflect on a journey of progress, resilience and unity that has defined Trinidad and Tobago since gaining independence in 1962.

“Your rich cultural heritage, vibrant democracy and commitment to diversity are truly commendable.”

She said over the years the two countries collaborated on numerous initiatives and stood together in times of challenge and triumph. This year, she said, had seen achievements in several fields including sustainable development and enhanced security.

She added it was a privilege to work with the people of Trinidad and Tobago and wished the country success, peace and prosperity.

Search engine Google’s homepage also celebrated Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence Day, sharing a brief history of the country’s path to independence. The site cited Trinidad and Tobago as the first in the region to gain independence.

It highlighted parades across the country, with the largest taking place around the Queen’s Park Savannah.

“Military forces escort the President in a vibrant display, accompanied by lively drums. As night falls, the sky is illuminated with fireworks, bringing the celebrations to a grand finale.”
