Yellow level adverse alert for “mainly western areas of Trinidad”
The Met Office has issued an adverse weather alert mainly for “mainly western areas” of Trinidad.
According to the Met office, “daytime heating in an unstable atmosphere will couple with a low-level trough to give a medium to high (60% to 70%) chance of strong afternoon thunderstorm activity mainly over but not confined to western Trinidad. “
The Met office adds, “a favourable wind regime is expected to develop by afternoon which can enhance this activity.”
They’re warning of flash flooding, street flooding and localised ponding. Landslips are possible. Gusty winds are less likely but can still be expected near heavy downpours.
The weather is expected to clear up during the late afternoon into the evening but there could be similar ITCZ activity in the early morning favouring southern Trinidad and gradually affecting the rest of the island.
