Yellow Level Hot Spell Warning discontinued, T&T status now GREEN

  • Sep, Mon, 2024

The Yellow Level Hot Spell Warning/Watch which was activated on Friday has been discontinued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, as of 9:48 AM, today.  The national status is now at GREEN LEVEL.

The latest advisory issued by the Met Service covers both islands.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and rainfall events are expected to lower maximum temperatures and these conditions are forecast for at least the next four days. As a result, the hot spell warning is discontinued,” the advisory says.

Met Service forecasters say Trinidad and Tobago is still in its heat season and note that warm to hot temperatures are still expected over the coming weeks.

The public is being encouraged to wear appropriate clothing; to always stay hydrated; and to keep out of direct sunlight to avoid sunburn.

In addition, members of the public also are advised to ensure proper ventilation in their homes by opening “appropriate windows, vents and doors” from time to time.
