Young triathletes Malcolm Menzies and Launy Duncombe will have a chance to test themselves against some competition from around the world when they take part in the 2024 World Triathlon Development Regional Cup Trinidad and Tobago at the Buccoo Goat Racing Facility, in Buccoo, Tobago, on Saturday.

Menzies and Duncombe are ready to join the action. These young triathletes are participants in the World Triathlon Development training camp for the Caribbean and have been working on their skills with Coach Dorian Roach and Coach Jorge Marcos, over this past week.

For the upcoming Development Cup race on Saturday, the training camp which started on Monday is vital. For both Menzies and Duncombe, this event represents a major development in their triathlon. This is Duncombe’s first appearance on the Development Cup circuit, and the second for Menzies. Menzies comes into the event fresh off an impressive fifth place finish in Bridgetown, Barbados, this past July.

They both have potential, and both are already formidable in their age group. Menzies is 16 and Duncombe is 17 years old.

“They can both be around the top five,” Coach Roach said. “They are young for their age group, but among the better ones. I expect them to do good and the more races they get under their belts, the more experience they get. It will be better for them.”

The competition is all set for this Saturday for Menzies and Duncombe. They are at the beginning of their journey in triathlon, but with every race, not only do they learn new things, but they also gain valuable experience.
