Youth Training & Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP) and the Diego Martin Borough Corporation celebrated the graduation of their Business Incubator Series in a ceremony on August 28.

The programme, which featured two modules, aimed to provide entrepreneurs with essential ICT and business management skills. Topics covered included Social Media Marketing, Financial Analysis, Business Planning, Online Platforms, Online Bill Payment, and Document Creation. The Diego Martin Borough Corporation hosted the classes across various community and homework centres.

Mayor Akeliah Glasgow-Warner praised the graduates for their dedication and urged them to apply their new skills to their businesses. “You recognised the value of gaining entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, and I urge you to apply what you’ve learned,” Glasgow-Warner said. She also thanked Councillor Chelsea Mendez and Mr. Darren Winchester, Business Development Manager at YTEPP, for their roles in the programme. Glasgow-Warner noted the programme’s impressive 72% completion rate.

YTEPP Chairman Ms. Thora Best encouraged graduates to “Adapt or Perish,” emphasising that the training received is a powerful tool for their future.

Guest speaker Derrick Lewis, CEO of Lewis Appliances and Island People, inspired graduates to differentiate themselves. He shared motivational quotes, including “Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want” and “Successful people do what unsuccessful people are unwilling to do,” echoing the call to “Adapt or Perish.”

The ceremony saw attendance from YTEPP executives, Diego Martin Borough officials, and Derrick Lewis.
